Antonin Kinsky, a Czech goalkeeper, has officially joined Tottenham Hotspur in a reported £10 million move.
Tottenham Hotspur has kicked off the January transfer window with a bang, securing their first major signing of the month.
In a move aimed at bolstering their squad, Spurs have snapped up a talented new recruit, sparking excitement among fans.
Only after news surfaced that the 21-year-old had gone to London for a medical on Saturday was the former Slavia Prague goalkeeper linked to a move to Spurs over the weekend. Before the club's official website made the deal public on Sunday morning, Kinsky signed the contract.
With international clearance and a work visa pending, we are happy to announce the signing of Antonin Kinsky from SK Slavia Prague," the club said in a statement. "The 21-year-old goalkeeper has agreed a deal that will run until 2031 and will wear the number 31 shirt."
Although the transfer fee was not formally revealed, Fabrizio Romano asserted that it was "in excess of £10m".
If all the legal paperwork related to the move has been completed by Wednesday's Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool, Kinsky might be put in goal for his debut as Tottenham is severely lacking in goalkeeping options.
Ange Postecoglou was obliged to start Tottenham's third-choice goalkeeper Brandon Austin in the first squad on Saturday against Newcastle United after Fraser Forster's illness caused him to join longtime absentee Guglielmo Vicario on the sidelines. Although he didn't make a fool of himself, the rarely seen goalie gave up two goals in a 2-1 loss that prolonged Tottenham's miserable home record.
