Real Madrid Plan Three Major Exits to Fund €130m Move for Chelsea Star Tipped as Kroos Successor

Real Madrid is reportedly ready to let three players go this summer to fund a move for Enzo Fernández from Chelsea. That’s how serious they’re about strengthening the midfield.

Why Madrid wants Enzo Fernández

Spanish outlet Fichajes says the club is convinced Fernández can help dominate the midfield for years to come. They believe he could step into the kind of role Toni Kroos left after retiring in June 2024.

Kroos had spent ten seasons in Madrid and collected 22 titles before ending his career after Euro 2024.

Chelsea paid around £106.8 million (about €130m) to sign Fernández from Benfica in 2023. Madrid think that’s fair value and expect Chelsea to demand at least €130m if they want to sell.

Enzo Fernández impressed for Chelsea this season, and head coach Enzo Maresca had praise ready after Chelsea beat PSG in the Club World Cup final. Maresca said:

“We are extremely happy with Enzo, not just in the final, but throughout the whole season. He played in a different position on Sunday. We tried to prepare for the match thinking that the result was going to be good and things were going to go well, and that’s what I felt on the day”

Madrid sees Enzo as the modern midfielder they’ve been missing, someone who reads the game well. smart on the ball, good at reading the game, helps out in defence, and creative in forward.

Who might leave and why

To raise money, Madrid are reportedly ready to offload three players: Eduardo Camavinga, Rodrygo, and Fran García. Combined they could bring in roughly €150m.

Eduardo Camavinga has struggled to find consistency this season. Under Carlo Ancelotti he lost form and game time, and then at the end of April he suffered a serious adductor injury that ruled him out for months, including the Copa del Rey final and Club World Cup.

Rodrygo, the 24-year-old Brazilian winger, is also said to have “lost prominence”. The arrival of Kylian Mbappé and the emergence of younger options like Endrick and Arda Güler have nudged him down the pecking order.

During the Club World Cup, he saw minimal minutes, which fueled speculation over a summer exit.

Madrid apparently value Rodrygo at between €90-100m. Reports from Football España, Cadena SER, AS, and TeamTalk all mention that Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, and even Manchester City have shown interest, but no formal bids have landed so far.

Fran García, the left back, may also leave, though less has been said about him. He returned to the first team after Madrid triggered a €5m buy‑back clause in 2023, but his place wasn’t guaranteed. He scored in Madrid’s Club World Cup quarter‑final win over Dortmund in early July 2025, so there’s some value there.

Rodrygo’s situation: what clubs are saying

Rodrygo’s name keeps popping up in transfer rumors. Most outlets put his value at €90m to €100m.

Bayern Munich, and Manchester City have all been linked. But Liverpool and Arsenal seem most serious, especially if Liverpool needs a replacement for Luis Díaz.

As TeamTalk reported, Madrid would consider bids in that range to free up funds this summer . Cadena SER says Arsenal have tracked him but aren’t in offers yet; the club wants at least €90m and may hold out for €100m.

Liverpool, under new boss Arne Slot, is eyeing Rodrygo as a likely replacement should Díaz move on. Rumors say Liverpool may now be leading the race for him, with interest backed by multiple reports that they are in touch with Real Madrid and the player’s camp.

Fabrizio Romano cautioned that Arsenal have not opened formal talks yet, they like him, but won’t move unless Rodrygo decides he wants out. Madrid won’t negotiate until that happens.

Camavinga: why he’s on the chopping block

People had high hopes for Camavinga when he signed that new deal in 2023. He was expected to break into the starting lineup over time. But he’s had a few injuries, and lately, he just hasn’t been playing as much as others in midfield.

A major adductor rupture in April 2025 ruled him out of key matches, reinforcing doubts about his reliability.

Madrid might decide to sell now while he’s still worth a good amount. He’s still only 22, has shown flashes of real quality, and can play in a few different roles. But right now he’s overshadowed in a strong squad.

A sale or loan could bring in needed cash while freeing a spot for a player like Fernández.

Fran García: the quieter candidate

García was signed back in 2023 after Madrid triggered a buy‑back. He had moments of promise, including a man‑of‑the‑match with two assists in a league game and that goal in July’s Club World Cup quarter‑final.

Madrid still have options ahead of him. With Mendy, Miguel Gutiérrez, and potential signings like Alphonso Davies or others, García could be surplus. A transfer could bring a modest fee and free up squad space.

What signing Enzo Fernández would mean

If Madrid can move those three players, they’d expect to raise roughly €150m. That would not only cover Chelsea’s expected €130m asking price but leave a bit of breathing room for agent fees, wages, and other additions.

Fernández offers something Madrid have leaned on heavily control from deep, shielding the defense, fluid progression into attack. His ability to play multiple midfield roles would help replace Toni Kroos’s quieter but influential presence.

For fans and experts, the signing would be viewed as smart and forward‑thinking. It lines up with Madrid’s push to modernize their midfield with younger players who can adapt tactically.

But nothing is guaranteed

Even if Madrid get the money, Chelsea doesn’t have to sell. Enzo Maresca has called Fernández a “key part of his team,” noting how the player adapted to different roles during the season and especially in the Club World Cup win over PSG.

That kind of praise suggests Chelsea may hold firm unless pushed by the player himself or a massive offer .

On the other side, Rodrygo has not publicly requested to leave. Fabrizio Romano says he hasn’t communicated a desire to exit Madrid yet, and Madrid may not open talks until that happens.

What fans are saying

On Reddit, Real Madrid fans voiced doubts about selling Fran García:

“Leaving Fran Garcia makes no sense … he has improved a lot this season.”

Meanwhile others note the need to streamline options at left-back and bring in higher-caliber alternatives.

Fans discussing Rodrygo on Arsenal forums have mixed feelings:

A user on an Arsenal forum posted:
“Rodrygo + 80m or 150m outright... would still feel like a loss, but the money if well invested could uplift us.”

Those debates reflect the tension. Rodrygo is respected, but many feel his value might have peaked and Madrid should cash in if a big offer comes in soon.

So what’s next?

Things are starting to take place, but nothing is confirmed yet.

Real Madrid really want to sign Enzo Fernández, but it’s not something they can sort out right away.

They’ll need to offload some players first and that’s where Camavinga, Rodrygo, and Fran García come in. All three are useful in their own right, but Madrid seems to have made up their mind: it’s time to cash in to refresh the squad.

Rodrygo’s situation is the most high-profile right now. Liverpool seems genuinely interested, and if they lose Luis Díaz, this could move quickly. Arsenal is watching too, though they’ve yet to make a serious move.

Madrid know they could get a big fee if Rodrygo leaves, possibly around €100 million. If a club like Liverpool or Arsenal makes a serious offer, it would give Madrid the kind of money they need to go after Enzo.

Camavinga’s had a tough season recently. Injuries have kept him out at times, and he’s not been getting a lot of minutes on the pitch. He’s still highly rated, but with the club looking to bring in cash, they might let him go if a decent offer comes in.

As for Fran García, his situation is quieter. He’s done well when called upon, but Madrid has other options at left-back, and he might be the easiest to move without rocking the boat too much.

Meanwhile, Chelsea isn’t exactly rushing to sell Enzo. Enzo Maresca clearly values him, and unless Fernández pushes for a move himself, Madrid will have to come in with a serious, no-nonsense bid.

So it’s all linked. Madrid needs sales before they can buy. Liverpool and Arsenal are lurking. Chelsea holds the cards on Enzo.

Madrid, as always, is quietly working behind the scenes trying to line everything up. The window is wide open and anything could happen in the next few weeks.

This is not just one transfer, it’s a linked chain. Madrid want to sign Fernández, but they need to move players first. Chelsea may demand a high price, and Fernández himself has options and loyalties.

Clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal are ready to jump on Rodrygo if Madrid give a sale greenlight. And younger players like Camavinga and García are in the mix too.

For fans, it feels like Madrid is orchestrating a big reset. A midfield upgrade, a star winger potentially departing, and spots opening up for fresh talent. It’s a summer of serious choices and big money.
