Cristiano Ronaldo warns Manchester United to ‘change their structure’ as Ruben Amorim struggles to turn things around

In a shocking new interview with Piers Morgan, Cristiano Ronaldo asserted that Manchester United “don’t have a structure” anymore.

The former Red Devils striker has also declared that Ruben Amorim’s team will not compete for the Premier League title in 2025–2026, stating that the Portuguese coach is unable to “perform miracles” with the resources available to him at Old Trafford.

In the joint interview for his YouTube channel and Talk TV’s Piers Morgan Uncensored, Ronaldo said, “For me, I’m sad because of the club, that’s one of the most important clubs in the world, and a club that I still have in my heart because of the obvious reasons.”

“To build a foundation for the future, just as Manchester United did so many years ago, you have to follow with the intelligent people, smart people.”

Although they were young, Nicky Butt, Gary, Roy Keane, and Beckham went on to become major players. Therefore, Manchester United does not yet have a structure.

Because of the club’s incredible potential, I hope that things will change in the present and the future. It’s among the century’s most significant clubs.

Regarding Amorim’s assignment, the Portugal and Al-Nassr star continued, saying, “He is doing his best, what else can he do? He is incapable of creating miracles. “Miracles are only in Fatima,” as we say in Portugal.

Furthermore, he won’t do miracles. They have talented players, but some of them don’t understand what Manchester United represents.

Ronaldo responded, “It’s not possible for them to win the Premier League,” when asked about United’s prospects of winning the league. They already trail Arsenal by a significant margin.

Ronaldo accuses Glazers and INEOS of being at fault

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS now in charge of football operations and the Glazer family taking a backseat as majority owners, Ronaldo feels that the club’s hierarchy is still unable to take the necessary actions to return United to the top of the game.

“Of course (it hurts me) because I played there for so many years,” he continued.

I’ve won the Champions League, the Golden Ball, and about 12, 13, and 14 trophies there, so as I’ve said and said again, Manchester United will always hold a special place in my heart.

However, we must all be honest with ourselves and acknowledge that we are not headed in the right direction, therefore they must change.

In my view, this is not just about the coach and players. Ronaldo’s second stint at United ended abruptly in November 2022 after he made similar assertions in his final interview with Morgan.

In addition to criticising the club’s younger players and accusing then-manager Erik ten Hag of disrespecting him, the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward expressed his opinion that the team had stagnated following the departure of iconic manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

Ronaldo stated, “In my opinion, the progress was zero at United.” “The technology, particularly in terms of training, nutrition, and conditioning, eating properly, and recovering better than previously, astounded me when compared to Real Madrid and even Juventus, who follow the rest of the globe.

“I think Manchester is currently behind that club, which astonished me. I believe that a club of this size ought to be at the top of the tree, but sadly, they are not.

They’re not at that level. However, I think they can achieve a high level in the upcoming years.

“I don’t know what’s going on but since Sir Alex Ferguson left I saw no evolution in the club, the progress was zero.”

Ratcliffe is unlikely to be pleased with Ronaldo’s recent remarks. In order to advance the squad, the INEOS chairman has built cutting-edge new training facilities and made significant investments in new players.

During a £170 million ($222 million) summer expenditure, players like Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo arrived at Old Trafford.

As a result, United appears to be improving on the field; they have moved into the top eight with 10 points out of a possible 12 in their previous four league games.

But given the eight-point difference between Arsenal and his former team, Ronaldo’s ideas about a title bid make sense.

When the Red Devils visit Tottenham on Saturday, Amorim will try to produce yet another successful outcome.

On the same day, Ronaldo is scheduled to return to Saudi Pro League play for Al-Nassr against Neom.
