Trent Alexander-Arnold's Real Madrid move spark debate: is it a good career choice ?

Twenty-one years after Michael Owen departed Liverpool for Real Madrid in 2004, Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to follow suit. Owen should have added "f*** 'em" since that would have been sage advise to a young man who had to make the most important decision of his life. "It will tarnish him in some eyes even though it shouldn't," Owen remarked. Alexander-Arnold should have seriously considered the opinions of a minority before making his choice. After more than 300 games of devoted genius, he owes Liverpool supporters nothing except a hefty salary. In more than two decades, he has never been anything but loyal to Liverpool, never shirked, and never complained. Only fools would not believe that to be sufficient, and they ought to be disregarded. Since Owen left Liverpool in 2004, the world has become both smaller and larger at the same time. Only the most cynical redheads would now pretend that Real Madrid could never have any appeal, that no team could e...

Man City ‘propose’ £55m to Tottenham for ‘perfect choice’ to deplace De Bruyne in ‘obvious indication’

Reports indicate that Man City has proposed a deal to Tottenham for attacking midfielder James Maddison prior to the summer transfer window.

The Citizens have experienced a disappointing season by their benchmarks, with Pep Guardiola’s team not contending for the Premier League title.

Last weekend, Liverpool were declared champions and are now 18 points clear of Man City, with the Reds set to play their game in hand against Chelsea on Sunday.

Man City ended nine points in front of Liverpool last season as Guardiola’s team claimed their fourth straight Premier League championship.

Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, and Juma Bah were all signed during the January transfer window as Man City aimed to resolve several problems in their team.

Kevin de Bruyne, the sole scorer in Man City's victory over Wolves on Friday, is one player who will be leaving during the summer transfer window, and the Belgian international is expected to leave a significant void upon his departure.

At the start of April, De Bruyne wrote a heartfelt letter to Man City supporters to share his departure, stating: ‘Dear Manchester, Upon seeing this, you likely understand where this is going. I’ll cut to the chase and inform you that these will be my last months as a player for Manchester City.

"Writing this is not simple, but as football players, we all understand that this day will inevitably arrive." That day has arrived, and you should hear it from me before anyone else.

'Football brought me to all of you – and to this town.' Pursuing this aspiration, unaware that this time would transform my life. This town. This organization. These individuals… provided me with EVERYTHING. I was left with no option but to return EVERYTHING! And would you believe it – we triumphed in EVERY aspect.

"Like it or not, it’s time to bid farewell." Suri, Rome, Mason, Michele, and I all appreciate the significance this place holds for our family. “Manchester” will always be in our children’s passports – and, more significantly, in every one of our hearts.

‘This will forever be our PLACE.’ We are incredibly grateful to the city, club, staff, friends, family, and teammates for this decade-long journey.

‘Every tale concludes, but this has surely been the finest chapter. Let's cherish these final moments as a group! With much affection, KDB.'

Now, Man City appears to have found his successor, as a report on the Spanish site Fichajes claims that the Citizens have 'made a €65m (£55m) bid' for Tottenham's playmaker Maddison.

Man City aim for Maddison to be ‘De Bruyne’s heir in midfield’ and they ‘have chosen to proceed’ with Maddison’s name ‘noted by multiple clubs’ before the summer.

The report states: ‘As De Bruyne approaches the end of his career, City view Maddison as the perfect choice to preserve the quality in midfield.’

Their £55m bid has communicated a 'straightforward indication' of their aspirations for the upcoming season, and Man City 'understands that the transition after De Bruyne will be vital, and to accomplish this, they require a player who can provide the creativity and vision that have characterized the Sky Blues’ play in recent times.'
