Arsenal Set to Submit New Bid Within Hours for Fourth Summer Signing as Gunners Push Hard

According to report, Arsenal is anticipated to submit another offer for Valencia center-back Cristhian Mosquera in the "coming hours."

As they expand Mikel Arteta's midfield options, the Gunners have already arranged agreements for Christian Norgaard of Brentford and Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad.

In an effort to challenge David Raya, Arsenal's new sporting director Andrea Berta has also sought to acquire Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea for £5 million.

Mosquera, a center-back for Valencia, is now their fourth summer acquisition after the La Liga team rejected their initial £14 million offer.

Arsenal is probably going to make a bigger offer when they return, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, who stated on his YouTube channel: "Arsenal's opening proposal for Cristhian Mosquera for €14m was rejected." Arsenal will go back to the negotiating table with the goal of completing a deal for this Spanish defender for between €20 million and €25 million.

Let's assume that Mosquera, whose contract with Valencia expires in a year and who has accepted the terms proposed by Arsenal, would cost more than €20 million to acquire.

Because he wants to play in the Premier League and wants to join Arsenal, Mosquera has already said yes to the offer from Arsenal, the contract, Mikel Arteta, Andrea Berta, and every other member of the team.

"They are currently talking and negotiating club to club; there isn't an agreement on €14 million or €15 million, but Arsenal will return to the table." "I think Arsenal will win this one handily again."

Spanish publication Superdeporte stated in their Monday edition that an enhanced offer for Mosquera from Premier League team Arsenal is "expected in the coming hours."

Journalist Fran Guaita is reportedly furious that Mosquera and his representatives have not received any word from Valencia CEO Ron Gourlay or the team regarding a new contract.

"This is going to get muddied, which is absurd," Guaita stated.

The fact that Valencia says they want to extend the player's contract, that he even notifies his agent, that they have arranged a meeting at the club's headquarters, and that Mosquera has been unable to contemplate a renewal proposal for about a month is unprofessional and incomprehensible.

"Even though Gourlay hasn't moved to Valencia yet, I am aware that he has been working since the day following his appointment. The two proposals from Arsenal coming before the Mestalla club's renewal request is not justified. It's not good. We'll see if that continues or if there is more to it.

Sources close to the situation now say Arsenal’s new offer should land somewhere around €22–23 million, bonuses included. Things have picked up on their end after Bayern Munich and Napoli started sniffing around and asked about Mosquera late last week.

Even with that, Arsenal are still in front mostly because they got personal terms sorted early.

What’s really drawn Arteta to Mosquera isn’t just the athletic side of his game. It’s the way he carries himself on the pitch that stands out. He’s only 19, but you wouldn’t know it watching him play. He’s already got 32 La Liga appearances under his belt and has dealt with big-game pressure like someone who’s been around a lot longer.

Arsenal scouts were spotted more than once at the Mestalla last season, quietly keeping tabs on Mosquera. According to Spanish journalist Héctor Gómez, he’s actually been on their radar since way back in 2022.

Arteta doesn’t expect him to walk straight into the starting lineup, but he sees something worth building. A player who can take his time, learn the system, challenge Saliba and Gabriel bit by bit, and slowly grow into a proper Premier League defender.

What really stands out with Mosquera is how calm he is on the ball. Last season, he kept a passing accuracy of over 91%, and he wasn’t shy about stepping into midfield when Valencia needed someone to help keep the ball moving under pressure.

Behind it all, there’s been a strong nudge from Edu Gaspar. Arsenal’s technical director has been doubling down on South American and Iberian talent lately, and Mosquera ticks all the right boxes Colombian roots, polished in Spain, technically sharp, tactically smart, and still just 22.

Back in Valencia, though, things are starting to get tense. Reports from Marca suggest that club officials are divided over whether to cash in on Mosquera or dig their heels in for a final contract push.

Some within the club believe Arsenal’s strong position is “putting a gun to their head,” especially given Mosquera’s firm stance on leaving. The fact that he’s refused to even sit down for renewal talks has added to the frustration internally.

People close to the player say he felt let down during a tough spell over the winter. He was training well, in good form, but still found himself left out of important games. That really hit him. Feeling overlooked like that stuck with him, and it’s a big reason why he’s now pushing to leave instead of just seeing out the rest of his contract.

In North London, Arteta is said to be “fully on board” with accelerating the deal before Arsenal fly out for their pre-season tour in mid-July. The Spaniard wants Mosquera integrated into the squad early, with the potential to get minutes in friendly fixtures and soak up the tactical drills before the Premier League opener.

From a squad planning perspective, this signing aligns with Arsenal’s push to lower the average age of their defensive unit. With Jakub Kiwior attracting interest from Serie A and Rob Holding already gone, bringing in a young, high-upside center-back who can be shaped into a top-tier defender makes strategic sense.

The bigger picture here is that Arsenal aren’t just trying to match Manchester City in the market, they’re trying to outthink them. Rather than chase overpriced, fully established stars, they’re placing calculated bets on high-ceiling youngsters who can grow into world-class roles. Mosquera could be the latest in that line.

It’s now a matter of when, not if, Arsenal go back with an improved bid. All signs point toward movement within the next 48 hours, and unless Valencia throw up unexpected roadblocks, the deal is expected to be sealed before the end of the week.
