Kevin De Bruyne provides a direct update on the contract discussions for Man City.

"Manchester City's pursuit of domestic and European dominance may hinge on securing the long-term future of their midfield maestro, Kevin De Bruyne. As contract negotiations continue to unfold, the Belgian international has offered a candid assessment of the ongoing talks. With De Bruyne's current deal set to expire in 2025, the clock is ticking for City to tie down their influential playmaker. Here, we delve into De Bruyne's blunt update on his contract situation and what it means for Manchester City's future ambitions.

Kevin De Bruyne has acknowledged that negotiations for a new deal with Manchester City have not advanced.

De Bruyne is nearing the end of his contract, and negotiations for an extension were previously put on hold after he sustained a hamstring injury, which also hampered his 2023–2024 campaign.

The 33-year-old De Bruyne was recently asked if he has any updates on his contract to share with supporters after rejoining the team.

"No, not yet," the player disclosed.

As early as January 1st, De Bruyne will be able to negotiate a deal with other teams, as several are reportedly interested in the Belgium international.

De Bruyne has long been viewed as a possible dream target by the Saudi Pro League, and San Diego FC, a Major League Soccer expansion team, has also indicated interest in signing the City player for their inaugural year.

Although he recently admitted that he would like to see a 23-year-old De Bruyne sign a new ten-year contract, manager Pep Guardiola, who signed his own extension in November, conceded that the veteran midfielder's time at the Etihad will eventually have to end.

There are players whose contributions to this club's history will last a lifetime," he stated. "Of course it is not easy [to replace them], but as a club, we have to find in the moment, if it's going to happen, we have to find the best way."
