Marcus Rashford set for Aston Villa medical - £40m loan option confirmed.

Before spending the rest of the season on loan from Manchester United, Marcus Rashford will have a medical at Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old has been sidelined at Old Trafford by Ruben Amorim since he was benched for the Manchester Derby in mid-December. 

With Amorim's relationship with Rashford appearing fractured, following the Portuguese's sharp critique of his training performance, Villa have surged to the forefront to secure the inside forward after weeks of speculation. 

On Saturday, it was disclosed that Rashford was nearing a loan transfer to Villa Park, which would feature a buy option, as the two clubs were finalizing details concerning wage sharing and a permanent transfer fee.

Under Unai Emery, Rashford would sign a three-and-a-half-year contract to join a Villa squad that is improving. The Midlands team had another fantastic season, finishing inside the top eight of the Champions League table to guarantee their spot in the round of 16.
