Cesc Fabregas, the manager of Como, has stated that there is no truth to the rumors that his team is considering a deal for Barcelona winger Ansu Fati this month.
After losing favor under Hansi Flick, who has excluded the winger from his previous four matchday teams, Fati is anticipated to depart Barcelona before the transfer market closes.
Como, headed by former Barcelona player Fabregas, was mentioned as a potential contender for the 22-year-old, but after making an initial interest during the summer transfer window, the Serie A team appears to have lost interest.
"There are some lads who will leave and they already know that, but we will bring others in," Fabregas stated. "We have no intention of acquiring a striker.
"I asked about Ansu Fati six months ago, but there's nothing now."
Barcelona, who have acknowledged they will probably need to contribute in order to allow a loan exit before February, is unlikely to be able to find a team prepared to pay Fati's alleged £200,000-per-week salaries.
Real Betis has reportedly expressed interest, but they are likely to give up as they close in on Antony from Manchester United. West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have also been connected.
Under Roberto De Zerbi's coaching, Fati failed to establish himself as a regular despite spending the 2023–24 season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion.
