Recent speculations suggest that Jorginho, an Arsenal midfielder, may depart the team during the January transfer window as a result of inconsistent playing time.
It becomes more doubtful that the 33-year-old, who originally joined Arsenal for £12 million from London rivals Chelsea halfway through the 2022–2023 season, will be handed a new contract as he enters the final six months of his current one.
Mikel Arteta has used the 57-cap Italy international sparingly this season, and he has only made nine starts in all competitions, which has left him unhappy by his lack of first-team appearances.
ESPN reports that after a meeting between Arsenal and Jorginho's agent, the midfielder is now thinking about leaving and has received an offer from Palmeiras, a Brazilian club.
Despite playing for the Italian national team, Jorginho, who was born in Brazil, would consider joining Palmeiras and Flamengo, another Brazilian team, during the winter transfer window.
Before the midfield player departs for free in the summer, Arsenal might be enticed to cash in on him in January. This would free up money that could be used to reinvest in the team before the second half of the season.
"We are mindful because we have certain squad limitations and a lot of gaps to cover to become the team that we want and then the availability of those players to afford them if you want to," Arteta stated recently.
"That sometimes indicates that it isn't feasible. It's not at all helpful to bring in bodies. It's just someone who can make an instant difference in performance and contribute something that we lack. It is quite hard to do in current industry.
Despite trailing league leaders Liverpool by six points, the Gunners are still in the running for the Premier League crown. However, in recent weeks, they have been lacking in attacking inspiration and inventiveness, which has been made worse by Bukayo Saka's long-term absence.
Arteta has acknowledged that he has assembled a team with "limitations" in previous windows, the Spaniard has kept his cards to himself in recent interviews when asked if his team may make any additions during the January window to assist address their creative problems.
