The curiosity of the last day of the 2024–25 Premier League season revolved around which teams might guarantee a top-five finish and Champions League football for the next season, as the title destination was already decided and the three demoted teams were already condemned. After losing to Manchester United due to a refereeing disagreement and a subpar performance, Nottingham Forest's desperate attempt to secure a spot at Europe's top table ultimately failed, and Aston Villa was left out. To qualify for the Champions League, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Newcastle joined champions Liverpool and Europa League winners Tottenham. To become a Champions League club, however, a team must first qualify. Man Utd's Patrick Dorgu faces an unforeseen issue with medical plans.

For Friday's crucial match against Parma, Lecce has called up left-back Patrick Dorgu to their matchday squad while he waits for permission to travel to Manchester United for a medical.

Dorgu, 20, was originally scheduled to travel to Manchester on Thursday for a medical examination, but those tests were postponed until this coming weekend, just days before the transfer window closes.

United will be worried about the fitness of their potential new addition after he was called up to the Lecce squad for Friday's relegation battle against Parma. Ruben Amorim has been pushing for a new left-back all month, and United finalized an agreement for Dorgu worth €35 million (£29.3 million) earlier this week.

Friday's match is considered vital to the team's fight for survival because Lecce is in the relegation zone in Serie A, but they are tied with Parma, who are two spots above them, and only two points behind Como, who are five spots above in 13th.

"Currently, he is a Lecce player, meaning he is selected and will go for the match," stated Lecce manager Marco Giampaolo. "I've evaluated him, so I'll choose the most sensible option since Lecce takes precedence over all."

The full-back's physical was moved to the weekend because United was informed that Dorgu would not be allowed to leave the team until after he plays in Friday's match, according to Sky Sports.

The arrival of Dorgu might make it easier for Tyrell Malacia, a Dutch international, to go. Record has identified Benfica as a possible suitor, while early rumors connected the left-back with Celtic as a possible replacement for Kieran Tierney, who is not anticipated to be freed from his Arsenal contract this month.
