Rashford has drawn interest from all over the football world in the past month. While Spain, and Barcelona in particular, are said to be the player's ideal destination, Saudi Arabia's offers have been rejected. However, one of Germany's ancient powerhouses might provide Rashford with the secure environment he needs to regain his peak performance.
Dortmund initially shown interest in the beginning of January. The frugal Bundesliga team is still seriously exploring a move for the 27-year-old forward, despite his high salary and approaches from AC Milan and Barcelona, according to BILD.
According to the German tabloid, negotiations between Dortmund and United have started, and the team, which is now ranked tenth in the Bundesliga standings at the halfway point of the season, is even internally debating a long-term contract as they attempt to turn around what has been a terrible campaign thus far.
A final sale is reportedly being pushed by Rashford's representation as well, with an estimated price of about £40 million. Dortmund may have the money to pay for a complete transfer after Donyell Malen leaves, whereas Milan and Barcelona have only been linked to six-month loan agreements thus far.
Rashford, who has been more and more hesitant to play anyplace other than his preferred left-wing position, was able to get some cash and a seat in the forefront when Aston Villa signed the controversial Dutch forward on Tuesday for an initial cost of £19 million.
